Sujan Chandra Mondol

About Me

I am Sujan Chandra Mondol, and I am pursuing a Master's in Civil Engineering degree at Brigham Young University, Provo, UT, with a specialization in Water Resources. I also work as a graduate research assistant in the Ames Research Group of the BYU Hydroinformatics Lab. Under the advisement of Professor Dr. Dan Ames, right now, I am working on Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH) supported projects of enhancing its National Water Model (NWM) API and developing an LLM-powered agentic system for NWM-based decision support.

I completed my BSc in Civil Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh. My undergraduate thesis and research were about machine learning and deep learning based prediction of rainfall as a hydrometeorological variable.

My research focus includes supplementing process-based hydrologic, hydraulic, and water resources systems modeling with statistical, machine learning, and big data techniques, as well as artificial intelligence-based products for enhanced quantification of water resources and prediction of hydroclimatic extreme events. I am also interested in integrating such modeling components in decision support frameworks and disseminating outcome data products and frameworks with convenient web technologies.
